Most Wedding-Friendly Sarees: Banarasi to Bandhani

Hi everyone! I am extremely enthusiastic about sharing with you my take on the loveliest sarees you must wear to a wedding. Do you know weddings are such an extravaganza in our community? And what a nightmare selecting a perfect saree can become! Believe me, I know – standing near my closet space, completely at loss for choice on what to put on.

Banarasi Saree: The Queen of All

OMG, let me describe Banarasi sarees first! These are the royal queens of all sarees. Produced in the lovely city of Varanasi (which we used to refer to as Banaras), these sarees are sooo beautiful with their gold and silver embroidery. My mom handed down her red Banarasi saree to me, and each time I wear it, I feel like a princess!

    Bandhani – The Colorful Beauty

And then there’s our beautiful Bandhani sarees! You know those little dots that create incredible patterns? Thats Bandhani for you! These sarees are available in such vibrant colors – red, yellow, green – name any! My friend wore a blue Bandhani to her sister’s wedding last month, and she looked absolutly stunning (oops, I mean absolutely* – see, even I make spelling errors!).

Kanjeevaram Silk – South Indian Charm

These sarees are absolutely special! Hailing from a tiny town in Tamil Nadu named Kanchipuram, they’re pure silk and have the most beautiful borders. They are slightly heavy to wear (I nearly tripped once in mine ????), but believe me, theyre well worth it for those perfect wedding photos!

    Designer Sarees – Modern Touch

If you prefer something contemporary, designer sarees are your best friends! They combine old and new designs. Some have lovely embroidery, and others have glitter work. I have seen one recently with tiny mirrors all over – it lit up the room literally!

Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Saree

    – Choose a color that you like (ignore what others say!)

    – Ensure that you can walk in it (learn from my errors!)

    – Check whether the blouse fits well

    – Don’t forget to purchase matching jewelry

    – Above all – be confident!

Remember, ultimately, wear what makes you look beautiful and comfortable. Every saree has a story, and you will give it your own memories. I still recall dancing through the night in my first wedding saree, though my pleats used to come undone!

Would love to hear about your favorite wedding sarees! What is your favorite style? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

P.S. – Don’t forget to make sure the fall of the saree (I learned this the hard way when my saree kept falling at my cousins wedding ????)

    Lots of love,

    Your Saree-Obsessed Friend ❤️

Note: Prices change a lot depending on where you purchase from, so I haven’t put them. But remember, a good saree is always worth the money – it’ll last you for ever!
